5 Follow Up Emails for Potential Clients
follow up emails

We’ve all heard the old saying –

The fortune is in the follow up.

But, unlike “a watched pot never boils”, or “eating the cookie dough is bad for you”, this one holds a lot of truth.

And it’s easy enough to send out a quick email, text, or social message to a potential lead – so what keeps us from following up?

Sometimes, it’s that we don’t know what to say without sounding pushy, money-hungry, or [insert negative sales adjective here].

So, today I’m sharing with you some of my favorite scripts for following up, and I hope that you’ll use them to stir up some new revenue in your business, or reconnect with old clients.

Follow Up with a New Lead

I hope that you already have a welcome sequence set up for when a new contact joins your list, or opts in for your freebie.

But if you don’t, please steal this follow up to help make it easy for them to follow you, and get in touch with you. (Note: This is the sequence after your free gift delivery.)

Hi Name,

Welcome to my inner circle!

I am so excited that you have decided to join us.

Here’s a quick list of what to look forward to, now that you’re in…

I publish a weekly blog, and I’ll make sure to send you a quick note with the link every Wednesday.

Plus, right now I’m running a [insert current promotion] that I’d love for you to join. You can check it out here: {link}.

I’ll also send you emails about other resources, experts and sweet treats I think you’ll love. All to help you create and outsource the six-figure coaching business you desire.

Here’s a quick guide for how you can make sure you stay in the know…

  1. Whitelist and prioritize all emails from me. In Gmail, just drag me to your inbox, or in other providers add me as a “safe sender”. I send a lot of great content by email, but if it doesn’t get through, you’ll miss out on the goodies and some of the benefits of being a subscriber.
  2. I’d love to be friends! You can catch me on the following pages and accounts:
    www.facebook.com/jessica.m.castle
    www.twitter.com/jessicamcastle
    www.instagram.com/jessicamcastle
    www.pinterest.com/jessicamcastle
  3. Check out some of my most popular blog posts! Hopefully these will help you solve some of your most pressing problems, or give you a fresh idea.

 Once again, welcome!

If you have questions or we can support you in any way, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

To your six-figure success,
Jessica

Follow Up After a Discovery Call

If you didn’t end your discovery call with either taking a payment, or setting a formal date to follow up, this script is going to save your candy-coated bacon.

We’ve all been on a call that’s going great, when the potential client says, “Oh, I’d love to work with you but I’m just not sure I have the money”.

And if you don’t know how to handle that response live, you may have froze up and hurridly ended the call, not sure where to go next.

If you believe this lead was a good fit, use the script below to follow up:

Hi Name,

Thank you for taking the time to discuss working with me as your OBM yesterday. I love getting to know amazing heart-centered entrepreneurs like you.

I just wanted to send a quick follow up and see if you had any final questions about the OBM service?

I remember you are looking for someone who can help you run the back-side of you business, so you can enjoy all that free time you’ve heard about other online coaches raving about.

And I know you’re at a boiling point where your income can’t go up, because you physically (and emotionally) can’t do any more of the “work”.

That’s exactly why I became an OBM, to help you go from exhausted and burnt out from focusing on tasks you don’t enjoy doing; to focusing on your sweet spot of coaching clients.

I know it’s a big decision, so please let me know any lingering questions, and I can definitely send you an answer to help you decide.

I look forward to hearing from you,
Jessica

Follow Up After Contract is Sent

Cold feet can hit you on your wedding day, in the Winter, and also when you’ve just agreed to a huge transformational coaching package.

It’s human for your potential client to go dark after receiving their contract, or first payment request from you. They’re scared and nervous! But – you know they are excited, too.

This short and simple script may be one of my favorites, because it puts the blame on good ol’ technology, and gives your client an esay out to get back on track with you:

Hi Name,

Just wanted to check in and make sure you received the contract.

Did you have any questions after reading it?

Also, I know emails can get lost or end up in the SPAM folder, so just let me know that you received it, and we’ll be good to go.

Thanks!

Looking forward to getting started,
Jessica

Follow Up After Page View/Application

If you have advanced email software like Infusionsoft or Ontrport, or if your program has an application component, you may want to use this template to follow up with interested leads.

Sometimes they just need a little nudge… 🙂

Hi Name,

I just wanted to send a quick email because I noticed you signed up to receive the program application, but I haven’t receive yours yet.

Did you have any questions about the program? Please let me know, I’m happy to help.

If you want to review the program details again real quick, you can check it out here: {link}

If you started the application but didn’t had a chance to complete it, you can finish it here: {link}

Just a quick reminder: the deadline for submitting your application is Friday. However, we’ve already accepted 10 amazing women in to the program, and spots are filling up.

Let me know if you have any final questions about the program, or if you need assistance with your application. I look forward to having you in the program!

XO,
Jessica

Follow Up After You Meet

If you spend the time at a networking event, don’t just collect business cards and file them away.

Reach out to personally to anyone you met and connected with, and offer them a chance to talk with you.

Hi Name,

It was great to meet you at the Meet Up event the other day! It was so great to find out more about you, and the coaching practice you’re trying to create. I mentioned that I help coaches like you organize and outsource their business to reach their six-figure income goals.

I also know you mentioned how tired you are from working so hard, and seeing so little return. I can definitely relate, and I’ve helped dozens of women who are right where you are – turn it all around.

And I’d love to help you too.

I didn’t have a chance to mention that I offer a complimentary Assessment Call. During our session you’ll get really clear about:

  • Benefit #1
  • Benefit #2
  • Benefit #3

I do have a few slots available this week. This Thursday at 2pm or next Monday at 10am. Let me know if you want one!

All the best,
Jessica

I’ve got a lot more scripts where that came from, but I hope you’ll bookmark this page and come back to any time you need a confidence boost (or a copy boost) to send a follow up.

Leave a comment: Let me know which follow up email you’ll be trying out first! Then, come back and let me know if it resulted in a new client for you. (I know it will!)

And, let me know if you’d like more done-for-you scripts like this, to help make communication easier in your coaching business.

Hi Jessica, how soon after a discovery call would you reach out to a potential client? Very helpful article!

Hey Paige, glad it helped! I’d actually follow up right after the call, or the next day to recap what you talked about and say you look forward to working together.

This is so good. Thank you so so much for taking the time to share! Following up can be a little scary because we want to avoid rejection – but it helps when you have an idea of what to say without sounding too salesy!

    Thanks again!
