When Should You Launch?
when should you launch

To Sum It Up

It’s been a rainy week in my town, and that only means one thing… Fall is on the way!

And if that wasn’t a tell-tale sign, certainly the heightened energy around the huge online Fall launch season is already palpable – and growing every day!

But what if you’re not sure that you’re ready to launch or you’re not sure that Fall is right season for what you’re selling?

In this week’s video I’m breaking down the seasons, so you can know exactly when you should launch and when your ideal clients will be primed to buy from you.

FALL

One of the reasons to launch this fall is that the energy is speeding up from the slower pace of summer. Even if you ideal audience doesn’t have kids, you can feel that “back to school” energy and we start to realize we haven’t accomplish the things that we set out to do from the New Year.

Some great programs to launch this Fall season are health programs, to re-start from a lot of summer “cheating”, as well as other courses and programs that are actually geared toward learning a skill or talent. For example, copy writing courses, or building your own WordPress website courses, to really play off the experience of going back to school and learning a new skill or lesson.

WINTER

Next to Fall, the late Winter season (think New Year’s Goals) is one of the most popular times to launch a new course or program.

The best type of program to launch during winter are those “change your whole life” courses, that help you lose weight, write a book, or start your own business. Anything that lines up with those big vision goals we set at the start of a new year.

However, the downside of a January launch is how popular of a month it is, so also consider if you should scoot out until February or March.

SPRING

Spring is a great time to launch programs for the dreamers. Launching courses that make people happy, or help them find balance, are the fresh start we are looking for. We go a little bit more internal after the rush and hibernation of the Winter, and we’re ready to birth something new.

In Spring, we’re ready to kind of invest in some of those dreamy courses or programs, and we don’t have to look for such a tangible outcome of losing weight or making money.

SUMMER

And then finally we get to the fun times of Summer launches! The biggest downside of a summer launch is that people check out from technology, so it’s a bit harder to get their attention and you’ll need a longer runway leading up to your cart open.

The other issue you can run into with a Summer launch is it’s sometimes hard to get people to buy in. But this can be solved with a really solid onboarding process so that your students don’t fall off track when they want to go play.

Your Turn

I hope this fun little overview of the launch seasons was helpful, and I’d love to hear any questions you have about your particular program and when you think might be the best time to launch it.

Thanks Jess! Great overview of the four seasons. I like your idea of pushing out a new year offer until February… I’m also gearing up for a fall launch. Is it OK to launch back to back? Like an October launch and then a Dec. launch for a different offer ?

I really like this overview, Jessica! It breaks down the reasons (and seasons) quite simply and they make so much sense. I’ve never known when the best time of year to launch a course or program (or anything really) is, so this is super helpful!
